Under DFARS 252.204-7021, prime contractors must verify subcontractor CMMC status before awarding a subcontract and before sharing CUI. Primes cannot share CUI with a non-compliant subcontractor — doing so exposes the prime to DFARS violations and potential False Claims Act liability. Subcontractors must also post assessments and annual affirmations in SPRS.
